Top 5 Movie Trailers of All Time

Another week and another top 5 for you to criticize. This time around we take a gander at those short films we all love so much. The trailer. Now before we get started I must point out that this doesn’t mean these are my favorite movies, but I love these trailers. So without any further delay here we go. I’ll keep the writing brief so that you have more time to enjoy the clips.

5. Independence Day (1996)

As a young lad I sat in the theater and said to myself, “HOLY CRAP! They blew up the Empire State Building!” This movie turned out to be a huge hit with a possibility of two sequels coming. Although I thought a lot of the movie was a little cheesy, this trailer got me amped up to go see it.

4. The Dark Knight (2008)

The highly anticipated sequel to Batman Begins. To see the late Heath Ledger in a glimpse of his oscar-winning performance, got this geek super excited to see the biggest movie of 2008.

3. Spider-Man WTC Trailer (2002)

Again as a comic book nerd I was already as excited as a trekkie meeting Leonard Nimoy. After 9/11 all footage in the movie that showed the World Trade Center was cut. This teaser trailer was only in theaters for a short time before being pulled.

2. Jaws (1975)

Don’t go in the water. The best movie ever made about a man-eating shark (Sorry Deep Blue Sea) Has an equally scary trailer. Makes you never want to swim in the ocean.

1. Taken (2009)

Based purely on the conversation Liam Neeson has with his daughter’s kidnappers, this trailer gave me goosebumps.

What are some of your favorite trailers? No really, I want to know. You can tell me. Even if it’s for something stupid I’ll listen. You can trust me.
