Senorita of The Week: Valentine Kate

Being the sweet and sensitive crew that we are here at Bueno Joe Dot Com we thought we’d do something nice for our readers this Valentines day.  Sure we could have went and scoured the internet for a flavor of the week Hollywood Hottie, but instead we decided to go with a home grown girl.  That’s right caballeros, drop the empty heart shaped candy box and shake off the pain of another Valentines Day wasted. That coupled with the $300 your sorry ass spent on your special lady for dinner and roses only to be left pondering that ever important question at the end of the evening; unscented aloe or lavender flavored lanolin.

This week for your viewing pleasure we present a young lady that has been considering participation as a Senorita of The Week for some time.  She confessed to us during our initial conversation that she was a bit freaked out when one day she found a friend request on her Facebook page from a Donkey.  Who wouldn’t be, right?  How creepy is it that a Donkey knows how to use Facebook anyway?   Shortly after seeing the request she saw that a mutual friend had referred us and decided to give us a chance.  Like everyone else she found out that we pretty much rock; so much so that this model and photographer decided it was time to hit us up and spend some time in front of our camera.

Kate

Age: 18
Relationship Status:  Taken
Occupation:  Student, Model, Photographer, World Traveler
Favorite Band:  Sick Puppies / Breaking Benjamin
Hobbies:  Photography, Musical Theater
Career Aspirations:  Forensic Anthropologist
Being a photographer as well as a model, which do you prefer; to be in front of or behind the camera? That’s a really hard decision to make, I’m undecided.  I really enjoy the artistic side taking pictures and making people look good.  But being in front of the camera is so much fun and seeing my pictures on book covers is amazing.  It’s so much fun being on either side.
Are you worried about Mom or anyone having any negative thoughts on you posing for us? No, she was encouraging me to do it.  She’s very supportive, she got me the book cover job and said if she was in my place she would do it as well.

Very nice, it’s awesome to have someone that supportive behind you.
You are the youngest of our Local Senoritas thus far so my typical party girl, favorite adult beverage questions don’t apply, legally anyway.  So if you aren’t on either side of the camera, what do you do for fun? I’m sort of a loser (laughs).  I like to hang out with friends play Life, go see a movie…Harry Potter blanket fort nights.
OK you’ll have to elaborate, what is a Harry Potter blanket fort? We build a blanket fort and watch Harry Potter and make Harry Potter themed foods.
Note** At this point it was made abundantly clear that I was the only one in the room that hasn’t seen these movies, there was laughing and finger pointing, fun was had and then we moved on**
So, lets talk about these forts.  What do you do, take a blanket and drape it over the couch, chair and footstool? It’s a little more complicated than that. In my dance studio we put up bar chairs then put a sheet over them, drape it on the sides and tie it to the ceiling fan so it’s like a circus tent in the middle.
Wow, that beats the hell out of my blanket forts, so how many people attend these fort parties? Anywhere from two to fifteen.
You mentioned before that you wanted to be a forensic anthropologist. Do you have a fall back plan? I went on the National Geographic student expedition to Italy over the summer so I’d probably work for National Geographic.
Very nice.  What did you do there? We went to Florence on this really intense introduction to photography class.  We were constantly shooting and had a list of shots we had to get with specific settings.
That sounds like it was a learning experience wrapped up into a lot of fun.  Do you speak Italian? I take an Italian class in school, and my dad’s family is from Germany so he taught us German up until he died when I was four.   Also,  I’ve been teaching myself Middle Egyptian since the 8th grade.
Wow, that’s very impressive, isn’t that a dead language? Technically yes, but they still use Coptic which is basically the cursive version of  hieroglyphics.
Thanks for dumbing that down for me before I had to ask.  That all sounds very cool, very very complicated, but very cool.
When was the last time you did something for the first time? Wow, that’s a hard question.  I got my first tattoo in December.
We noticed that during the shoot. What is it? It’s an Ankh (yep, she spelled it for me) I got it in memory of my dad; it means eternal life in Middle Egyptian.
That’s an amazing sentiment, most of the people I know that have tattoos have them because they were drinking and thought it would be a good idea.  They were wrong.

That does it for our sit down with Kate, for the time being anyway.  We don’t want to give away too much at this point, but in the coming weeks we’ll feature our lovely Local Senorita again.  While we already have her verbal commitment for a follow up shoot, next time it will be her professional side we’ll expose to you.  Check back soon for information on her photography company, sample pieces of her work, and her contact information.

Now that you have read about her, check her out in the “Made for Bueno” gallery below.  It contains original work that was shot and edited by our friend Big Chris, and is the property of buenojoe.com.  Enjoy!

Much like his first tattoo his name was an impulse purchase and he probably should have given it more thought. He's been accused of not respecting personal space, and He's a former pimp, but sadly never won pimp of the year.
